Arsenal identify their top summer target
Arsenal have made Schalke midfielder Max Meyer a top summer target, according to reports.
The 22-year-old is out of contract at the end of the season and looks set to leave the Bundesliga side on a free transfer, and Arsenal are hoping to persuade him to make a move to the Emirates.
AC Milan, Bayern Munich and Liverpool are also interested in the German international so the Gunners will not find it easy to get the midfielder, but they’ll do all they can to get him to put pen to paper.
Mayer is able to speak to any interested parties now and it is believed that Arsenal are working hard to get a deal done.
Arsenal have already signed a free agent from Schalke in recent months, with left-back Sead Kolasinac joining in the summer.
Leon Goretzka will already be leaving Schalke in the summer as he’s agreed to sign for Bayern, so they German side are desperate to tie Mayer down to a new deal but it looks like he too will depart at the end of the season.
