French forward wanted by Arsenal and Man Utd asks club to allow him to complete Chelsea move

Arsenal have supposedly identified Barcelona forward Ousmane Dembele as a potential summer transfer target but they face a fight to secure his signature.

According to El Gol Digital, the 20-year-old is eager to get his career back on track next season and wants to leave Barcelona on loan to play some regular first-team football, informing the club that his preferred destination would be Chelsea.

Club-record signing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who played with Dembele during his one and only season at Borussia Dortmund in 2016/17 where he scored 10 goals and provided 22 assists in 50 appearances for the club, has been trying to persuade the France international to join him at the Emirates.

Since making his return to the first-team in January following a three-month layoff with a hamstring injury, Dembele has continued to struggle with muscular complaints, making just nine appearances for the Catalan club so far without scoring.

Barcelona have signed Philippe Coutinho from Liverpool and are much more comfortable with him in the attack that Dembele and are understood to be open to allowing him to leave the club in the summer either on loan or on a permanent transfer.

Along with Arsenal and Chelsea, both Manchester United and Atletico Madrid are said to be interested in recruiting the forward in the summer.
