Arsene Wenger has confirmed Arsenal will continue to deploy a back three formation at the start of the coming season.
Arsenal’s traditional 4-2-3-1 was ultimately replaced by a more defensively sound, fluid, 3-4-3 formation, which was introduced in the latter third of last season and ultimately saw The Gunners win ten of their final 11 matches and resulted in a third FA Cup win in four years.
Speaking at a press conference in Sydney, where Arsenal will begin their pre-season tour, Wenger confirmed Arsenal would continue to use a three at the back but stated that he would be going to a back four again in some matches.

“We’ll test many systems. At the moment, in pre-season, we are in the continuity of the end of last season,” Wenger said.
“In some games, we will play with four at the back and some with three, but at the start of the season we will certainly play with three.”
Arsenal’s pre-season campaign kicks off on Tuesday against Sydney FC.
