Arsenal attacker Lucaz Perez has recently lamented his discomfort with his lack of game time for the Gunners, the Evening Standard can report.
Spanish forward Perez hasn’t had the best start to his Premier League career, getting minimal game time and not even being used when Arsene Wenger rests regular first team players. The experienced forward can often be played anywhere across the front line but is still third of fourth choice when it comes to team selection.
Although he hasn’t been used that much, he still has seven goals and six assists in just 21 appearances for Arsenal. A thigh injury has seen Perez fall out the picture for the Gunners but whether or not he’d have played a big part in their recent fixtures is unknown.
The Spanish striker admitted:
This season has been difficult because I think I’ve deserved to play more I may not have done as well as others, but if they’d have given me more minutes I’d have produced better numbers: more goals and more assists.
Perez will be keen to force his way into the Spain National Team’s plans, with the 2018 World Cup looming, meaning he’ll need to find more consistent first-team football.
Arsenal haven’t been in the best form of late and need to have a terrific end to the season to be able to finish in the Champions League spots.
Although Arsenal are a good enough side to be qualifying, their poor season might cost them and players like Perez and others could be on their way out of the club if Arsenal do fail to finish in the top four.
I’ve spoken to the coach and he admits as much, but he has own ideas and I respect that. I’d like more opportunities because I think I deserve them, but I’ll have to accept what comes my way.
