Barcelona to have scouts watch Hector Bellerin

Barcelona remain eager to bring Hector Bellerin back to the club six years after selling him as a 16-year-old to Arsenal and will have scouts watch him in action this week as the Gunners take on Bayern Munich in their Champions League last 16 second-leg tie, according to Mundo Deportivo.

Bellerin has established himself as one of Europe’s best young fullbacks since breaking into the Arsenal team mid-way through the 2014/15 season courtesy of a freak shoulder injury suffered by Mathieu Debuchy against Stoke.

Set to make his 100th Arsenal appearance against Bayern in midweek, the 21-year-old recently put pen-to-paper on a new six-and-a-half-year deal which runs until 2023, illustrating his commitment to the cause at the Emirates.

Like many Arsenal players, though, Bellerin will reassess his future at the club if Arsene Wenger leaves at the end of the season and may be open to a sensational return to the Nou Camp.

Barcelona have seemingly scrapped plans to sign Valencia fullback Joao Cancelo making Bellerin once again their top right-back target as they seek out a successful replacement for Dani Alves.
