Arsenal to move for La Liga star

Following another failed attempt of capturing a Leicester City champion, Arsenal have switched their attention from ‘PFA Player of the Year’ Riyad Mahrez, to Real Madrid’s James Rodriguez, the standout performer of the 2014 World Cup.

Rodriguez earned his move to the Bernabeu after winning the Golden Boot in Brazil, however since the appointment of Zinedine Zidane as Head Coach, James has failed to establish himself in a star-studded squad. Now Mundo Deportivo are reporting that Arsene Wenger will make a move for the Colombian.

Signed for €80 million, it would take another large fee for Madrid to part with the 25-year-old, who certainly has his best years ahead of him. That is why making a move for James’ midfield teammate Isco may appear more feasible. Both players have displayed performances of high quality over the years but the question remains, do Arsenal need yet another midfielder?

With Theo Walcott set to start upfront against Liverpool on Sunday along with an injury to Gabriel sustained yesterdays friendly with Manchester City, it is clear that the money could be better invested in other areas.

Arsenal fans will be expecting acquisitions in defence and attack in order to end the 12 year league title drought.
