In the second game of the Scandinavia tour, Arsenal faced Premier League rivals Manchester City. City was the real test in pre-season, after other games versus teams like the MLS-All Stars and Norwegian side Viking FK.
The beginning of the game was undoubtedly for the team from Manchester, as they had way more possession and really put Arsenal under pressure. However, the first couple of big chances were for the North London side. Unfortunately, the Arsenal players were unable to find the back of the net, and a few minutes later, Sergio Aguero opened the score in favor of Manchester City.
Arsenal played much better in the second half, after some good half-time substitutions by Arsene Wenger, and looked like a reborn side. It didn’t take long for Arsenal to find the back of the net, which they did through Nigeria international Alex Iwobi. In the 73rd minute, Walcott was through on goal and chipped City keeper Joe Hart. Akpom netted the 3-1 after a big mistake from the City defense, and not long after that, another Nigeria international on the pitch scored, this time it was Man City’s Iheanacho, who scored the final goal of the game.
With all that said, let’s take a look at the five things we learned after this game.
