Arsenal youngster to join Newcastle United

According to Pete Graves of Sky Sports, Arsenal’s Isaac Hayden is set to join Rafa Benitez’s revolution at Newcastle United, on a permanent basis.

The contract for the defensive player is expected to be five years. This follows a successful loan spell at Hull City, culminating in Hull being promoted to the Premier League after defeating Sheffield Wednesday in the play-off final. Hayden appeared 24 times last term for The Tigers and scored one goal.

Having been on Arsenal’s books since 2008, Hayden himself has represented England at every level from under-16 up to under-20. Widely regarded as a centre-half, he is comfortable being deployed in the defensive midfield role.

Hayden reportedly undertook a successful medical yesterday afternoon, with the deal to be finalised and announced in the coming days. A popular player amongst the Hull City faithful with Championship experience and a promising future, this transfer could prove to be a real coup for Mike Ashley and the Toon Army.

At 21 years of age, Newcastle have acquired a versatile and industrious defensive minded player with true leadership qualities.
