After being played on the wing in Arsenal games this season, Jack Wishere has insisted that he wants to play in a central midfield position in the 2016 Euro tournament in France, according to an interview the Mirror.
In an interview, Wilshere claimed that he is frustrated about Wenger playing him out of position at Arsenal.
Wilshere missed most of the 2015/16 season due to a broken leg which he picked up last season. Nevertheless, Roy Hodgson picked him as one of the players to board the plane to France in June.
Wilshere only started one Premier League game in the 2015/16 season for Arsenal, but in the 2014/15 season, he did play on the flanks for some games to fill in the position – as there was a lot of competition for the central midfield spots.

He played 65 mins in England’s 2-1 win in a warm-up match for the Euros against Turkey in a central role, and is hoping to lend a helping hand in the Euro 2016 campaign for England.
With Arsenal I’ve been playing out wide, which is not me. I’m not a wide man. But Roy seems to have faith in me in the middle, so I’m happy with that. I like to play anywhere in the middle. I played the holding role before and I really enjoy that. I was a bit higher up the pitch against Turkey and I enjoyed that.
I spoke quite a lot with him (Hodgson) and I knew what he wanted for me and he made that clear to me. That helped me. He wasn’t giving me any deadlines, he was just keeping track of me and things like that.
Wilshere is a versatile player within the central areas. He has been placed at the base of a diamond, in a pair in a 4-2-3-1 formation, in the number 10 role, and most recently on the edge of a narrow diamond. It seems Wilshere is certain to play in a central role for England, but with the amount of players playing centrally for Arsenal, he will have to fight for a central position.
