Arsenal took a step forward in their hopes for a guaranteed UEFA Champions League spot, after holding Manchester City to a draw, with the Blues really needed all three points.
Twice the Gunners prevented the hosts from snatching the points, as Olivier Giroud fired in a header instantly after Manchester City took the lead, and again after, Alexis Sanchez rescued a point for the visitors with a spectacular goal in the 68th minute, after Kevin De Bryune netted the second for City
Arsenal couldn’t come away from the game with the maximum number of points to level with Tottenham -after they lost to Southampton earlier on in the day – but they’ve taken the race for top four out of Manchester City’s hands. The Blues could drop out of the race if their rivals Manchester United win their two remaining games.
The Gunners can still overtake Spurs on the final day and move into second place, if Tottenham lose to Newcastle United who are fighting for Premier League survival, and Arsenal beat an already relegated, bottom of the table Aston Villa at home.
So what can we learn from Sunday afternoon’s game against Manchester City?
