For many, becoming a footballer is usually more of a dream than a reality but for some of Arsenal’s youngsters, next year could be the biggest season of their careers.
Arsene Wenger has always had a keen eye on youth development, which has seen him bring through the likes of Thierry Henry, Patrick Vieira and Ashley Cole. In the last few years, Arsenal’s youth production has somewhat dried up, but we still have seen Jack Wilshere, Kieran Gibbs, Wojciech Szczesny come through.
After a re-emphasis on bring through our academy prospects, Wenger has promoted Hector Bellerin, Francis Coquelin and now Alex Iwobi to the first team squad. Alex Iwobi has been revelation since his inclusion, and is now cemented as a starter for the club. Having seen Iwobi break into the first team, many of the under-21 players will be chomping at the bit to show everyone what they can do in the first team.
