MK Dons boss Karl Robinson believes that Yaya Sanogo should be ‘banned for the season’, after the Arsenal striker, on loan at Charlton Athletic, appeared to elbow Anthony Kay in the head.
With the game at 0-0, the Frenchman threw his arm out not once but twice at the MK Dons defender, being shown a straight red card by the referee for the offence.
The sending off is the first of Sanogo’s career and having had a fantastic start to his time with the Championship side, scoring a hat-trick and bagging an assist in his last couple of games, will be disappointed to have let both himself and his teammates down.
Speaking after the game, as reported by Sky Sports News, Robinson lamented the 23-year-old striker, saying that the offence was ‘disgusting’.
Twitter: Sanogo’s stupid red card last night. https://t.co/Xv5eD9vtqO (@afc_Mat)
It was disgusting. He should be banned for the rest of the season.
He’s clearly, off the ball, had a go and then a second one.
I was expecting to see the police in the tunnel at the end of the game because the challenges were so bad.
I know it’s about fighting and competing for survival in one of the most difficult leagues in Europe, but there’s still got to be an element of control.

Sanogo will now miss three games for his side because of the straight red, with the fixtures coming against Middlesbrough, Sheffield Wednesday and Birmingham City respectively.
