Arsenal to release five senior players this summer

Kieran Gibbs, Tomas Rosicky, Mathieu Flamini, Mikel Arteta and Mathieu Debuchy are the five players believed to be let go by Arsenal should offers come in for them in the summer, according to Football Insider.

Debuchy and Gibbs still have a number of years left on their contracts but both seem to have fallen out of favour with manager Arsene Wenger. According to the reports, Arsenal will listen to any offers for the pair in the summer.

The French full-back is currently on loan at Bordeaux, with his contract running out in 2019, whilst Gibbs’ contract still has two years left.

It is understood that Wenger is already on the hunt for full-backs, namely Leicester youngster Ben Chilwell and Fulham’s Ryan Sessegnon, both of whom the Gunners tried and failed to sign in January.

Flamini is a player who is in his second stint with the club but is holding out for a new contract with the north Londoners. He faces a difficult task, especially when his competition, Francis Coquelin and Mohamed Elneny, are much younger and stronger than the experienced 31-year-old.

Arsenal veterans Rosicky and Arteta, are both expected to end their time at the club in the summer when their contracts end, after both have missed a chunk of action due to injury issues.
