Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has spoken to the media ahead of his side’s Barclays Premier League clash with Manchester United.
The Gunners face the prospect of seven fixtures in the next 21 days and the Frenchman believes that his side are entering their most crucial period of the season.
The north London club currently sit third in the Premier League table, two points adrift of first place Leicester and lag behind local rivals Tottenham Hotspur on goal difference. However, the side are also still competing in the UEFA Champions League and FA Cup and so look set for a very busy next three weeks.
Wenger stated, as reported by the club’s official website, that although this upcoming period will be the most testing section of the season for his side, it allows his team to display the quality that they possess to emerge the other side as victorious.

It is the key period. We work the whole season for this period and that’s where you’re really tested but it’s where you have an opportunity to show your quality as well. On that front, that is the most interesting period of the season.
You can show quality, nerves and desire as well. We need to focus on the Premier League where we have a big part to play. Everybody drops points and it is unpredictable. We have rebuilt a good run in the Premier League and we need to continue that.
Wenger refused to estimate the number of points he believes his side would need to secure their first Premier League title in over a decade. Instead, the veteran manager argued that his team needs to simply remain focused on earning as many points as they can to put themselves in a strong position compared with their rivals.
How many points that will be needed [to win the title]? We don’t know. Let’s not set any limit on the number of points we can get. We have put ourselves in a strong position again. We want to take advantage of that and continue our good run in the Premier League.
