This week marks the return of the UEFA Champions League, and the stage could not get much bigger for the Gunners. They take on arguably Europe’s best team in the first knockout round of the competition, meaning Arsenal fans will have to hope that their team delivers on the night.
The problem with Barcelona is that they possess three of the world’s best attacking players, and the rest of their team is outstanding as well. It wouldn’t be fair to suggest that the Gunners don’t have a good enough team to overcome the Spaniards, but with Luis Enrique’s side in such outstanding form, things aren’t looking too hopeful for Arsene Wenger’s men.
Arsenal’s past record at this stage in the competition does nothing to ease the nerves either, given that they have gone out at this point in each of the last five seasons while Barcelona have only gone once in the last 10 years.
Clearly, the Gunners will have their work cut out for themselves, so let’s take a look at what the north London side must do to stop their opposition.
