On-loan West Ham right-back Carl Jenkinson, who signed a new five-year deal last summer with his parent club, looks to be heading back to Arsenal, after suffering knee ligament damage in West Ham’s 2-2 draw with Manchester City last Saturday.
The defender proceeded to play after a challenge with Sergio Aguero, which resulted in a penalty for Arsenal’s title rivals; Manchester City. After five minutes Jenkinson decided he was unable to continue, despite this, the injury was thought not to be too serious at first.
However, scans on Tuesday deemed it otherwise, ruling Jenkinson out for the remainder of the season. According to the Mail Online, he will now return to Arsenal to recover from the injury and start his rehabilitation process.

The Gunners and West Ham have been discussing the situation of Jenkinson, he was sent to a specialist on Wednesday and surgery may be required. Jenkinson made 36 appearances in all competitions last season and had already made 23 this season before suffering the injury.
West Ham co-chairman David Sullivan’s son, Jack informed everybody of the news by posting it on Twitter.
Carl Jenkinson’s injury is far more serious than we thought and he is out for the rest of the season.
We wish Carl the speediest of recoveries.
