Arsene Wenger has all but confirmed the signing of Mohamed Elneny and has not ruled out the possibility of someone else following him through the door this month.
The openness of Wenger discussing the arrival of Elneny at his news conference was uncanny for the Frenchman and hinted that everything is nearing completion, with the only hold up likely to surround a work permit.
The Egyptian should be announced formally in the coming days which will bolster the midfield following injuries to Santi Cazorla and Francis Coquelin on top of Jack Wilshere’s and Mikel Arteta’s absence for the most part of the season.
It is complicated a little bit but we are working hard on it and hopefully in the next two or three days we will get to the end of it.
He will be at least one signing that comes into an area where we are short at the moment.
On the topic of transfers, the Arsenal manager also had an update on Mathieu Debuchy’s potential move away to Roma or Aston Villa, two teams strongly linked with the right back.

He [Debuchy] has an opportunity to go but he as well has not been in touch with any club.
Wenger unequivocally denied the rumours of Troy Deeney moving to Arsenal and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain leaving for Chelsea.
Yes [it’s not true].
As for whether Elneny will be the only signing, the Frenchman kept the door ajar for somebody else to be brought in.
The only one? I don’t rule out anyone else.
