Having arrived a season ago posing as a challenger to Wojciech Szczesny, many thought that David Ospina may act as a long term solution to Arsenal’s infamous goalkeeper issue. Reliable and calm, he overtook the Pole in the pecking order and delivered a series of composed performances in the second half of the 2014/15 season, placing him in good stead for this season.
However, Petr Cech’s arrival and subsequent stellar form has signalled the downfall of the 27-year-old. When given an opportunity, he has failed to grasp it, appearing unconvincing in the UEFA Champions League against Olympiacos and Dinamo Zagreb.

Now, it seems that Arsene Wenger is willing to listen to offers for his second choice goalkeeper. Although an injury to Cech would signal the inclusion of the talented yet raw Matt Macey, it seems Arsene Wenger is willing to cash in on the goalkeeper and recoup some of the alleged £3.5 million paid to Nice.
This appears a sound decision in the long term, as both Szczesny and Emilio Martinez will return from loan spells at the end of the season, and Ospina may fall even further down the pecking order.

However, he is still an excellent keeper on his day, as reflected by the interest from Besiktas and a number of French clubs.
