Mesut Ozil believes that his personal upturn in form and that of his club side Arsenal is down to how well the side have been functioning as a team this year.
Many have been left impressed by the German playmaker’s change in form this year and are now seeing Ozil playing the best football since joining from Real Madrid in 2013 in a deal worth £42.4million.
And speaking to Arsenal Player, the 27-year-old admitted he believes that it is down to the earnest work of his teammates that is allowing him to flourish in the side.

I think as a team you can see that we’ve become more mature.
We’ve learnt from our mistakes and you can see on the pitch that we’re more steady.
We’ve had some setbacks this season but we’ve learnt from them and it shows on the pitch that my teammates are looking for me even more and I’m able to control the game better.
Ozil has already contributed in assisting 10 goals this season and played a major part in the demolition of Manchester United in a 3-0 win at the Emirates on 4th October, after assisting Alexis Sanchez before getting on the score sheet himself.
He was also named Man of the Match in Arsenal’s 3-0 win over Watford shortly after as he again provided Alexis and Olivier Giroud with the final pass before both finished well. His outstanding performances during October saw Ozil being voted the club’s Vitality Player of the Month.

You can see that we function well as a team. It doesn’t matter who plays from the start, we’re always there. You need a big squad if you are to e successful and that’s why things are working well.
When you look at the past seasons, we’ve always been a technically-strong team but when we played against big teams, we dropped points. In the second half of last season and in this year so far, we’ve proved ourselves against the biggest teams.
You learn from your mistakes and we can measure ourselves with the best. That distinguishes us as a team.
