Arsene Wenger eyes Genoa winger

Former Sevilla winger Diego Perotti has caught the attention of Arsene Wenger in recent times, according to reports from Gianluca Di Marzio, as Arsenal scouts were seen observing the Argentinian in his most recent fixture for Genoa.

Historically, Arsenal have always had a plethora of wide options to choose from, but injuries to Aaron Ramsey, Theo Walcott, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Danny Welbeck have left the Gunners short this season, and the Gunners appear to be eyeing the availability of another winger, should Joel Campbell, still raw despite impressing on the weekend, fail to make the grade.

Perotti is rumoured to be available for around £9 million, but the 2014 Europa League winner hasn’t proven to be the most reliable of players, mustering just four goals during his 27 appearances in Serie A, as well as proving to be injury prone in his stint at Sevilla. The Argentinian is said to be most proficient in dribbling, but is also adept at the technical side of the game, including set pieces.

Chased by a number of German and Spanish sides, the 27-year-old, who turned down a move to fellow Premier League side Watford in the summer, may have a decision on his hands come January.
