With Arsenal set to face Everton this weekend in a fixture that could see the Gunners claim the top spot in the Barclays Premier League, Arsene Wenger has spoken at a news conference and expressed his confidence in his side – who are in a rich vein of form.
Wenger’s men have won five of their last six games, including against local rivals Tottenham, Manchester United and Bayern Munich and so they will be hoping that they can continue their fine form at the weekend against Roberto Martinez’s Everton.

The Arsenal boss acknowledges the positive mentality that the club has at the moment and believes that this confidence can be used to secure three more points this weekend.
We always have a feel-good factor in our club unless the results are not there, we have always a togetherness but not always the results that we want.
Overall we are in a good run and that can help the level of confidence and belief going into the next game.
Wenger argued that although Everton will be a big game for the Gunners in terms of their title ambitions, they must stay strong at home, win the game and utilise the Emirates advantage to their benefit.
We have a big game in front of us against Everton and we can extend our run. Our focus is on our next game.
You know that if you want to play at the top of the Premier League you want to do well in the big games at home.
Everton is another big game so the target is for us to take advantage of that. We play in front of everybody so let’s take advantage of it.

When playing at the top-level of football, clubs are respected on their ability to maintain consistent results in big games and Wenger claims that he is looking for his side to use their new-found confidence to play consistently well against other top clubs.
You gain credibility through consistency and when people think this could be a game where we people think we could slip a bit and you respond in a positive way.
I believe that [at the] top-level, you come out of a big game and show you can focus again and produce the same performance again.
Arsene Wenger’s side currently sit second in the Barclays Premier League table, two points behind league leaders Manchester City and so a win at home against Everton would do wonders for their title hopes and would certainly keep the pressure on Manuel Pellegrini’s side.
