Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has called for Mesut Ozil to keep on impressing and scoring goals – after a strong start to the new campaign for the German playmaker.
The 27-year-old impressed for the Gunners against Manchester United prior to the international break, by assisting Alexis Sanchez’s opener as well as opening his own account for the season with a well taken side-footed finish beyond David de Gea.
Speaking to the media on Thursday morning, Wenger said that he believes Ozil has ‘set the standard for himself’.

You want Mesut to score as well in a big game and he did that against Man United.
When you are an offensive player that is an important part of it.
I believe there are goals in him and in that game he has shown it.
I think it can increase the belief and the hunger of the team. On the other hand you have to show that you can come into every game with that focus.
With Ozil being famed for his ability to provide assists for goals and help the team out vastly, Wenger has recognised that the player must start being more selfish in front of goal and getting his own name in the headlines for his match-winning finishes.

Arsenal face Watford at Vicarage Road on Saturday afternoon and all eyes will be on whether or not Mesut can continue and create a goal scoring run for himself.
