Francis Coquelin’s explosive entrance to the first-team last season left fans pondering the question of how he transformed from a sporadic squad player to an instrumental part of Arsene Wenger’s side. The Frenchman has gifted all of the credit to the technical ability of fellow midfielder Santi Cazorla.
“It is easy to play alongside Santi because he is such a great player,” said Coquelin when discussing with Arsenal Player what his recipe to success was last season. He continued to say: “Last season with Santi was something special because we got a lot of praise.”
The former French U21 international put all of this praise down to ‘good chemistry’ between himself and the attacking midfielder, who arrived at the club in the summer of 2012.

However, the 24-year-old was quick to heap praise on upon all of his other teammates too: “There are many great players at this club that we can all play with each other.
“That is the great thing about this squad; anyone can play and we can still get a result.”
Coquelin’s competitive nature and understanding of tough competition within the Arsenal camp will only aid him to future success, and the Frenchman has found himself as one of, if not the, first name on Arsene Wenger’s team sheet every gameweek.
