Following Arsenal’s 6-0 battering of Lyon, many players, including winger Alex Iwobi, were delighted with the team’s victory.
Olivier Giroud, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Alex Iwobi, and Aaron Ramsey each scored within nine minutes to total four goals, all in the first half. For Iwobi, it was a memorable moment in his career. The 19-year-old winger fired an unstoppable effort into the top corner.
“When Aaron passed me the ball I couldn’t believe it. I just swung my left foot at it and fortunately it went in and I was like ‘oh my gosh,” he told Arsenal Player.
It took time for Arsenal to get the fifth goal, with Mesut Ozil scoring on the hour mark, and the Gunners finished the triumphant victory with a sixth goal, late in the game through Santi Cazorla’s well taken free-kick.
Iwobi’s goal was his first for the Gunners and he discussed his delight.
“I couldn’t believe it, I was in shock. I didn’t know what to do or how to celebrate but I enjoyed it! I have dreamt about it so many times but I never thought it could feel as good as this.
“My family, my friends, my close friends even my uncle was here today so I was glad to get a goal for them.”
Iwobi captains Arsenal’s U21 side and although he has represented the Three Lions at under-16, 17, and 18 levels, he has committed to play for the country he was born in; Nigeria.
