The Gunners have made their first official signing of the summer, Romania Under-16 captain Vlad Dragomir from ACS Poli Timisoara. According to David Hytner of The Guardian, he was bought from the Romanian club to Arsenal for a total of for €100,000 (£71,000), on a three-year-deal.
“I am very glad and I hope not to disappoint anyone…the Arsenal offer seemed the best to me, I felt that this is my place.”
According to Sean Gallagher of the Daily Mail, the Romanian wonder kid was also interested by Italian outfit, Internazionale, and Ligue 1 side, AS Monaco.
The North London club also were reportedly looking at Dragomir, for a long time according to his agent, Catalin Sarmasan.
Sarmasan told Prosport: “I proposed Vlad to Arsenal a year and a half ago, during which they have monitored him closely since…In my opinion, Vlad is one of the most talented players in Europe at the present time.”
Arsene Wenger recently has been bringing in big names such as, Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil, which has caused fans to think the club has changed their transfer policy, however Dragomir’s transfer shows that Wenger has not stopped thinking about enhancing the club’s future.
It is well known that Arsene Wenger likes to invest in the future, signing players that other top managers may not have spotted, whether or not Vlad is a talent to look out for is something we will find out over the next three years.
