Sunderland offer £2m loan fee for Jenkinson

According to reports in The Telegraph, Sunderland have made a loan offer for Arsenal full back Carl Jenkinson.

It was believed that West Ham, despite being interested, were willing to pay the £2m loan fee demanded for Jenkinson by the Gunners, while the Black Cats are.

With Jenkinson set for another season of tough competition for a place in the Arsenal team with the likes of Mathieu Debuchy and Hector Bellern ahead of the 23 year-old in the pecking order, a loan move seems the best option for the club, who do not want to lose Jenkinson permanently.

The former West Ham full back is currently on international duty with the England u21 squad and is vying for a place in the side against the likes of Arsenal defender Calum Chambers.

Jenkinson had a magnificent year at West Ham and earned many plaudits for his attacking performances from full back and is believed to be happy to remain at the club for another year, but with Sunderland offering the £2m required to acquire his services for a season, it seems the full back may be on his way to the North East of England.
