Arsenal moved to within a point of Manchester City after a comfortable 3-0 home win over West Ham on Saturday afternoon. Arsenal continued their illustrious home form with a routine 3-0 victory over out-of-form West Ham at Emirates Stadium on Saturday afternoon. It’s now one defeat in 32 home games for the Gunners and with displays like they produced today, it could be quite a while before that record is baffled.
Arsenal could’ve been out of sight in the first-half, Adrian denying Aaron Ramsey with a wonderful save the pick of the bunch after also upending Theo Walcott and Alexis Sanchez.
West Ham looked more energetic in the opening exchanges of the first-half but couldn’t break Arsenal down. Arsenal had other chances to score but after Aaron Ramsey’s neat interchange with Olivier Giroud, it dented West Ham’s chances of an equaliser.
The Welshman seemed back to his usual best after a season plagued by injuries and his link-up play with Olivier Giroud shone throughout this spectacle, he was then rewarded for his efforts with a goal after a throw-in from Calum Chambers was dummied by the Frenchman and he played a neat one-two with Aaron Ramsey before the Welshman tucked home past a helpless Adrian.
Mathieu Flamini added gloss to the scoreline within seconds of coming on after Santi Cazorla played a neat give and go with Olivier Giroud before the Spaniard squared the ball for the veteran midfielder to tap in. It was a resounding win from Arsenal and will travel to Monaco with nothing to lose now.
Full-Time: Arsenal 3-0 West Ham United.
