After landing Mesut Ozil on deadline day last summer, Arsenal acted early in this window to capture a second marquee signing in as many seasons by prizing Alexis Sanchez from Barcelona for a fee thought to be around £30 million.
In his first interview with Arsenal.com, Sanchez said: “I’m so happy to be joining Arsenal, a club which has a great manager, a fantastic squad of players, huge support around the world and a great stadium in London.”
He continued by saying how excited he was to play with his new teammates, adding: “I’m looking forward to meeting my new team-mates and to be playing for Arsenal in the Premier League and Champions League.”
And one of those teammates has already had his say on the signing:
The arrival of Sanchez should continue the revolution that began last August. It takes Arsenal a step closer back to where the fans and Arsene Wenger all want the club to be. Sanchez adds pace, power and directness to a team that was desperately lacking in it.
That aforementioned revolution continues tonight as the club usher in Puma as their new kit manufacturer. I must say, Puma have already impressed me with the way they are treating the club. With Nike, we were just another team to them. Puma are treating us like the big deal we are. And the new kits that they are set to launch, by all accounts, are a smart set of threads.
A red and white home kit – with striped socks! – and a classic yellow and blue away kit. I’m sold. Puma get it. They get our club.
JD Sports will be stocking the NEW Arsenal kit once it is released. Be sure to check out their range of Gunners sportswear:
