Last updated: 31 August 2026

Emirates Stadium is Arsenal’s home in north London, with a capacity of 60,704. The stadium is located in Holloway, with Arsenal station the nearest Underground stop and Finsbury Park and Highbury & Islington providing useful alternatives on matchdays.

For supporters visiting for the first time, planning the journey is particularly important. Local stations and streets become extremely busy before and after matches, while Arsenal operate specific matchday rules covering bags, digital tickets and stadium access.

Where is Emirates Stadium?

Emirates Stadium is in Holloway in north London, close to Highbury and Finsbury Park.

Arsenal list the stadium address as:

Emirates Stadium
London
N7 7AJ

The club moved to the Emirates in 2006 after spending 93 years at nearby Highbury. The first match at the new ground was Dennis Bergkamp’s testimonial on 22 July 2006.

What is the capacity of Emirates Stadium?

Emirates Stadium currently has a capacity of 60,704.

Arsenal have also explored potential future redevelopment of the stadium. Read Arsenal reported in May that the club had held discussions with stadium architects Populous as different expansion options continued to be examined.

What is the nearest station to Emirates Stadium?

Arsenal station on the Piccadilly line is the nearest Underground station, approximately three minutes’ walk from the stadium.

However, it isn’t always the best option for every supporter.

Arsenal station

Arsenal is around a three-minute walk from the ground.

It is the closest station but can become particularly busy around matches. Arsenal also warn that there is no step-free access from the platforms to the station exit.

Finsbury Park

Finsbury Park is approximately a 10-minute walk from Emirates Stadium.

It is served by the:

  • Piccadilly line
  • Victoria line
  • Great Northern services

Arsenal say it should generally be slightly less crowded than Arsenal station and identify it as the likely least-congested route for wheelchair access.

Highbury & Islington

Highbury & Islington is also around a 10-minute walk from the stadium.

It is served by the Victoria line, London Overground/Mildmay line and rail services and provides another useful alternative to Arsenal station. It is wheelchair accessible.

Should supporters use Holloway Road station?

Generally, don’t plan on using Holloway Road for the journey home.

Arsenal state that Holloway Road is exit-only before matches and can close for up to two hours after the game. Eastbound trains may also pass through without stopping before kick-off.

Drayton Park is also closed on matchdays.

Getting back after an Arsenal match

Post-match travel is often more difficult than getting to the stadium.

Crowd-management queues operate around the major stations, including:

  • Arsenal
  • Finsbury Park
  • Highbury & Islington

Supporters should expect controlled access and potentially significant queues after full-time.

For that reason, walking to Finsbury Park or Highbury & Islington can sometimes be preferable to immediately joining the queue at Arsenal station, depending on the direction of travel.

Always check live Transport for London information before travelling because engineering works, disruption and match-specific arrangements can change.

What bags can you take into Emirates Stadium?

Arsenal strongly advises supporters not to bring a bag unless necessary.

Bags larger than A4 size are not permitted, and permitted bags are subject to security searches before entry.

Large luggage and suitcases should therefore be left elsewhere before travelling to the ground.

Other prohibited items include weapons, flares, fireworks, large umbrellas, large camera equipment and bottles above permitted sizes. Supporters should check Arsenal’s current prohibited-items guidance before attending because stadium security policies can change.

How do Arsenal tickets work at Emirates Stadium?

Arsenal increasingly use digital ticketing.

Members attending matches using a digital pass should download it to their Apple Wallet or Google Wallet before arriving at the stadium rather than relying on doing so at the turnstile.

Before travelling, check:

  • the correct fixture and kick-off time
  • your digital pass or match ticket
  • entrance information
  • block and seat number
  • any travel disruption
  • current stadium security rules

Kick-off times can change following television selections, so supporters travelling well in advance should check the confirmed fixture details again closer to matchday.

For example, several of Arsenal’s early 2026/27 Premier League fixtures were moved after UK broadcast selections were confirmed. Read Arsenal’s latest fixture changes here.

Can you park at Emirates Stadium?

Driving is generally not recommended for ordinary matchgoing supporters.

Emirates Stadium sits in a densely populated residential area and extensive event-day parking restrictions operate around the ground.

Arsenal says parking is limited, with surrounding roads subject to matchday restrictions and road closures.

Public transport is therefore normally the easiest option.

Is Emirates Stadium accessible?

Arsenal provide dedicated facilities and information for disabled supporters.

Two of the useful transport options, Finsbury Park and Highbury & Islington, are wheelchair accessible, while Arsenal station itself does not provide step-free access between the platforms and exit.

The club also provides dedicated disabled supporter information covering stadium access, seating and matchday assistance.

What has changed at Emirates Stadium in 2026/27?

Arsenal introduced licensed standing in the Clock End for the 2026/27 season, with the North Bank planned to follow from 2027/28.

The club described the change as part of its efforts to improve the matchday atmosphere at the Emirates.

Was Highbury Arsenal’s old stadium?

Yes.

Highbury was Arsenal’s home from 1913 until 2006, when the club moved a short distance to Emirates Stadium.

Parts of the former stadium remain preserved within the Highbury Square redevelopment, including the listed East Stand façade.

The connection between the two grounds remains visible throughout Arsenal’s modern home, including references to the club’s history around the stadium.
