Arsenal injury latest: Konsa concern, Saliba return and Saka update

Arsenal injury latest

Arsenal will hope Ezri Konsa recovers in time for Saturday’s 3pm Premier League clash with Hull City after he came off during their Champions League win over Slavia Prague.

The return of William Saliba to the matchday squad is a great boost for Mikel Arteta ahead of the game, but Bukayo Saka remains out as he continues to recover from his quad injury.

Here is all the latest Arsenal injury news and when the three players are expected to return.

Ezri Konsa faces fitness check after Slavia Prague win

Konsa started Arsenal’s 2-1 victory over Slavia Prague on Wednesday but came off in the second half after experiencing discomfort.

He appeared to limp during the first half, so Arsenal will monitor his fitness closely ahead of Saturday’s match.

Arteta said the change was not a tactical one, as Konsa had been playing a lot of games recently and had some problems during the match.

The Arsenal boss is likely to give an update ahead of Saturday’s game depending on how he recovers in the coming days.

Konsa’s absence will leave Arsenal without as many reliable centre backs. However, Gabriel will play a key role in the backline, and Arteta has other options in Cristhian Mosquera and Piero Hincapie.

Potential return date: November 7 vs Hull City (3pm kick-off).

William Saliba returns to Arsenal squad

A positive from the Gunners’ trip to Prague was the inclusion of Saliba in the squad.

The defender has not played this season after picking up a long-term back injury. The issue got worse during his time with France at the World Cup finals, but he managed to avoid surgery.

Saliba has steadily built up his workload and played for 45 minutes in a behind-closed-moors game. He returned to full training on Tuesday and travelled with the squad to take on Slavia Prague.

Although he did not come off the bench, his inclusion shows he is getting close to being back in contention.

Arteta said that Saliba was feeling confident, but it will depend on the needs of the squad.

It gives Arsenal an extra experienced centre-back, and if Konsa is not available against Hull, then he could make an appearance on the pitch.

Potential return date: November 7 vs Hull City (3pm kick-off).

Bukayo Saka injury latest

Saka is currently the main attacking concern for Arsenal after he has been sidelined with a quad injury for the last four games.

The winger suffered the injury approximately 10 minutes into the Arsenal Champions League clash against Bayern Munich last month.

The original fears were that Saka would be out for up to eight weeks. Arsenal have not given any confirmation on how long it will take him to make a full recovery.

He will need to undergo another scan to get a better idea of the amount of swelling and fluid in the area. The medical staff will also want to see if the tendon is involved.

This means it is unlikely he plays against Hull. Arsenal are not expected to bring him back too quickly ahead of the international break.

Arteta will miss one of his most influential attackers. Hopefully the next scan will give a clearer indication of how long he is likely to be out for.

Expected return date: Unknown. Saka is not expected to face Hull City on November 7.
