# Arsenal U19s face tough Slavia Prague test in UEFA Youth League

Arsenal’s under-19s face a significant challenge when they travel to Czechia to take on Slavia Prague in the UEFA Youth League on Wednesday.

The young Gunners have picked up four points from their first three games and will be hoping to build on that in the league phase. Two wins would definitely help their chances of getting into the knockout stages.

They kicked off their campaign with a win against Napoli and put on a great show in a 3-3 draw against Bayern Munich last month.

Those results have left them 18th in the standings, 16 places below their next opponents. With the top 22 teams progressing to the knockout stages, another positive result could prove important for their qualification hopes.

However, Slavia Prague has made a much stronger start and will provide a difficult examination for David Horseman’s side.

## **Slavia Prague arrive in impressive form**

Slavia have won all three of their first games in the UEFA Youth League and are sitting in second place. Just behind Real Madrid on goal difference.

They began well with a 2-1 win against French side Lens. They then went on to beat Sabah 3-0 and then put in another strong display against Fenerbahce.

Despite falling behind in Prague, the players fought back to win the game 3-1. The three wins means Slavia are already past the number of points they scored last season in the league stage.

They also advanced to the knockout stages last time, finishing 20th before they faced Benfica.

Mubarak Suleiman put the team ahead twice, but they were pegged back by two goals in the last 30 minutes as their European run came to an end.

This season they have looked like a much stronger team. With a perfect record, they will be one of the hardest teams that Arsenal will face.

## **Arsenal have previous against Czech opposition**

The meeting on Wednesday provides an opportunity for Arsenal to get revenge for their heavy defeat in Prague last season.

The two sides met during the 2025/26 league campaign, with Slavia winning 5-1 at home.

Arsenal were three goals down at the break after an own goal plus goals from Bartosz Szywala and Jakub Kolisek.

O’Neill pulled one back after the break, but the home side had the final word as Suleiman and Matej Kotrba scored in stoppage time.

This loss shows how tough it will be for Horseman’s side. Slavia have already proven their attacking prowess against Arsenal and are playing even better in this campaign.

The young Gunners will have to play much more disciplined if they are to leave Prague with three points.

## **How to watch Slavia Prague vs Arsenal U19s**

Arsenal fans can watch the UEFA Youth League clash on Wednesday.

It will be streamed via the Arsenal app and Arsenal.com, with the match taking place at the Sports Centre Radotin.

Updates will also be posted here and on the club’s Academy X page.

A full match report, highlights and post-match interviews with Horseman and one of the young players will be published on Arsenal’s official channels.

With them still in contention to qualify for the knockout stages, Arsenal will be looking to get off to a good start. Slavia’s great early start means they will have to play some of their best football of the tournament.
