# Saka Scan Wait Continues as Arsenal Turn to Eze and Dowman Against Everton

Today, Arsenal will be playing against Everton, but unfortunately for them, Bukayo Saka is out due to an injury. Mikel Arteta is being careful, as they are likely to be without one of their key players for a while.

## **Scan results are still awaited**

Saka had a second MRI scan on Friday after the first scan showed a significant amount of fluid in the area, leaving uncertainty about the extent of the damage. Arteta has called for further scans and specialist assessments to take place before a conclusion can be reached. “We have to be a little bit patient,” he said.

The manager has said the initial indications are not looking good. Saka is struggling to walk and is restricted in his movement. Arsenal are worried that he could be out for six weeks or more. (BBC Sport)

Arteta added that muscle and tendon issues have affected a number of players and that the medical staff will be keeping a close eye on Saka.

## **Drama in Munich**

Saka was forced off after just 10 minutes at the Allianz Arena on Wednesday after feeling something while playing a pass. The winger limped off, with Arteta describing the injury as “really bad news” after the match.

Eberechi Eze came on and made an instant impact as he lashed home a long ball from Martin Odegaard to put Bayern Munich behind. The goal was controversial, as it appeared initially that he may have been caught offside by the linesman but was awarded after review by VAR.

Bayern then got back on level terms as Alphonso Davies scored, and soon after Harry Kane put them in front from a penalty. Declan Rice came on in the last eight minutes to give Arsenal a point after scoring from a Viktor Gyokeres assist.

The 2-2 draw leaves Arsenal seventh in the Champions League table, with seven points from three matches.

## **Who steps in?**

Eze and Noni Madueke could be selected with the latter scoring the winning goal against Nottingham Forest last time out. Arteta was impressed by Eze’s reaction after the Bayern game.

Max Dowman could also be involved, having scored his first goal for Arsenal during the 2-0 victory over Everton in March. Arteta confirmed that it is certain that the teenager will see some game time. However, William Saliba and Christos Tzolis are still sidelined.

Arteta has also asked Saka to be positive in the build up to the game. He does not want the squad to get bogged down with the injury and wants them to concentrate on the next game.

## **The title race stakes**

The Gunners sit in second place, with 18 points from 7 games, 3 points behind leaders Manchester City. But they have run riot at home, winning all three league games so far.

Everton are in good shape coming in to the game, sitting in 8th place with just one defeat. Last time they were away to Chelsea. David Moyes also has his squad fully fit.

Historically, they’ve had trouble winning in North London. They’ve only won once since 1996.

The game kicks off at 3pm and won’t be shown live on UK TV. But highlights will be shown in Match of the Day tonight.
