Arsenal 3-0 Lille: Seven-minute blitz seals Champions League win

Arsenal scored three times in seven second-half minutes to beat Lille 3-0 in the Champions League at the Emirates Stadium.

Jurrien Timber opened the scoring before Eberechi Eze and substitute Bukayo Saka struck in quick succession after Lille had kept Arsenal out for more than an hour.

Arsenal score three in seven minutes

Mikel Arteta made changes following Saturday’s 2-1 Premier League win over Leeds United, with Saka starting on the bench. Eze was denied by Berke Ozer during a goalless first half, with the Lille goalkeeper recovering to prevent Viktor Gyokeres converting the rebound.

Timber put Arsenal ahead in the 64th minute after being found by Noni Madueke, lifting his finish over Ozer for his first goal of the season. It was 2-0 three minutes later. Lille lost possession, and Saka found Eze, who finished with his left foot. Saka scored the third in the 71st minute after Martin Odegaard and Kai Havertz combined in the build-up.

Lille failed to register a shot on target, and David Raya kept a clean sheet. Former Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud came off the bench for the visitors late on and was given a warm reception on his return to the Emirates.

Arsenal have six points from their opening two Champions League games. They visit Nottingham Forest in the Premier League on Sunday before facing Bayern Munich away on 21 October, with the full European schedule in our Arsenal Champions League fixtures guide.
