Eberechi Eze is showing signs of being Arsenal’s go-to man in the title run-in as the Gunners aspire to become Premier League champions this season.
Eze looked up to Cesc Fabregas among others, which explains why the England international always seems to try and be the difference-maker in games. Mikel Arteta will need no reminding that as important as it is to be tactically sound, individual brilliance often takes teams over the line in title races.
Eze’s winner against Newcastle United indicated that he is hitting his best form in the famous red and white strip at the perfect time.
One man he should study to become Arsenal’s consistent difference-maker in the upcoming games is none other Ilkay Gundogan.

Eberechi Eze should analyse Ilkay Gundogan’s game in title run-in
During his time at Manchester City, Gundogan is a player who was renowned for playing his best football in the title run-in. So much so that the German told The Players’ Tribune that Ruben Dias jokingly compared him to Zinedine Zidane during this period of the campaign.
However, one key aspect of Gundogan’s game that came to life during the last stretch of the campaign was his knack of arriving late into the box and scoring crucial goals for City.
Considering how instrumental Eze is for Arsenal, he should also study this aspect of the Galatasaray midfielder’s game as it seems unsustainable for the 27-year-old to bag stunners in every game.
The former Crystal Palace attacker’s strike against Newcastle was stunning but the FA Cup winner could become a constant goalscoring threat if he runs beyond defences like Gundogan.
With Bukayo Saka returning to action, he could help find Eze in dangerous positions as the winger is arguably his side’s best creator. Much like Gundogan, Eze is a brilliant finisher.
However, the six-time Premier League winner was content not to get on the ball at times despite being a world-class technician to make sacrificial runs into the box. If Eze adapts his game in a similar manner, he could score a bundle of goals and take Arsenal to the promise land.
How Eberechi Eze is behaving off the pitch during title run-in
Gary Lineker noted how composed Eze looks during the title run-in, saying: “I think you have to give Eze a lot of credit because that was a gorgeous finish. He looks like and I saw him in his post-match interview and he’s so relaxed and you just think to yourself, maybe put him in charge of what’s going on at the end of the season.
“He said it, ‘No, I’m not nervous, I just love playing football, it’s great, you want to be in this position,’ Absolutely the right attitude!”
Lineker concluded: “It’s easy to have that attitude when you’ve just bent one in the top corner and a hugely important goal. But I see it, I get that, that’s how they should be.”
