Arsenal News Today: Bernardo Silva, Yan Diomande, Sandro Tonali transfer updates

Share

At a Glance:

  • Arsenal are interested in signing Bernardo Silva for free in the summer.
  • The Gunners are also looking at Yan Diomande, although they face fierce competition for his signature.
  • Manchester City are set to rival the North Londoners for Sandro Tonali.

Arsenal may be embroiled in an intense Premier League title race, but Andrea Berta is already making transfer plans ahead of the summer window.

The Gunners have had a week off to mull over their disappointing defeat at the Etihad on Sunday. Newcastle United await Mikel Arteta’s men next, in what is a pivotal encounter that will have significant ramifications on the outcome of the title race.

While Arteta and his players have full focus on the rest of the season, Berta is preparing for beyond this campaign. The Italian has already drawn up plans to rennovate Arteta’s squad over the summer, and thus, it’s no surprise that transfer stories are starting to pop up.

With that said, here is the latest Arsenal news today, including updates on Bernardo Silva, Yan Diomande and Sandro Tonali.

Bernardo Silva’s thoughts on Mikel Arteta reunion revealed

Bernardo Silva is set to leave Manchester City at the end of the season, after spending nine years in the north-west, making over 450 appearances for the Sky Blue outfit. Speculation around his next destination has already started to circulate, and Arsenal have emerged as a surprise suitor.

According to multiple reports, Arteta would be interested in signing the 31-year-old, who’ll be a free agent in a matter of months. Perhaps more surprisingly, TEAMtalk indicate that Silva is open to a switch to the Emirates.

The Gunners, as well as Chelsea, have ‘sounded out’ a possible move for the Portuguese midfielder, while Real Madrid are also said to be in the race. It remains to be seen whether Silva would actually follow through on a move to Arsenal.

Man City looking to hijack Arsenal’s move for Yan Diomande

It looks as though City and Arsenal’s transfer plans overlapping could become a theme in the upcoming window. The Gunners are in the market for a new left-winger this summer, and have identified RB Leipzig youngster Yan Diomande as a potential option.

However, the North Londoners won’t be alone in their pursuit of Diomande. Paris Saint-Germain and Liverpool have also been mentioned as keen suitors, while a new report has indicated that City will look to hijack Arsenal’s interest and move for the Ivorian with intent.

That’s according to Sky Sports News, who suggest Pep Guardiola wants to freshen up City’s attacking options once again this summer.

Man City also want to sign Arsenal target Sandro Tonali

Diomande isn’t the only player Arsenal are interested in signing, who City are also monitoring. The Gunners’ interest in Newcastle United midfielder Sandro Tonali has been well documented, and it’s now been revealed that the Citizens are also in the mix for the Italian.

According to Fabrizio Romano, acquiring a top-class central midfielder is a priority for Guardiola in the summer, and Tonali is on the list of names they are considering.

“On Manchester City, what I’m hearing guys, is that Manchester City have some different top targets,” the transfer guru said on his YouTube channel.

“Elliot Anderson and also Sandro Tonali is really appreciated.”

Given City’s financial might in comparison to Arsenal, it’s difficult to see the Gunners usurping the Manchester club in the race for many signings this summer.
