Nico Gonzalez did not shy away from admitting that in his eyes, Manchester City are the “favourites” over Arsenal to go on and win the Premier League title this season.
Arsenal have a manageable run-in until the end of the campaign but City’s latest 2-1 win over the Gunners would have handed them a major psycholigical boost over their title rivals.
Furthermore, Mikel Arteta’s side have won one of their last six games and they seem to be crumbling as a whole during the final stretch of the season.
Manchester City, on the other hand seem to embracing the pressure, beating Arsenal twice as well as Liverpool and Chelsea in their past four outings.
Arteta lit a fire at London Colney ahead of his side’s 0-0 against Sporting CP but the fans will be hoping to see the same level of intensity on the pitch in the league leaders’ forthcoming games.
Man City’s Nico Gonzalez sends Premier League title warning to Arsenal
Nico’s confidence in his side’s chances to make history again may stem from their crucial win against Arsenal, who underwhelmed against Manchester City by failing to get over the line.
It seems like unlike the North Londoners, City are peaking at the right time of the season; a constant theme throughout several teams managed by Pep Guardiola.
In an interview with Viaplay, Nico initially discussed the title race by saying: “We are really happy for the job we are doing really well. It is 50/50, let’s say because at the end if we have the same points, maybe it’s a matter of goals. It’s going to be a really nice rate until the end.”
Rodri added: “I don’t know if we are favourites, I don’t know.”
However, Nico admitted Manchester City are title favourites over Arsenal, claiming: “For me, yeah, we are favourites because I trust in my teammates. I trust in all the team, so I always believe we are the best team.”

Ahead of City’s clash against Burnley, he added: “I guess them [Arsenal], they might think they’re the favourites.”
Rodri stated: “We were in a very worse position one month ago and right now, we are in a position that it’s in our hands. That’s the reality.”
Nico concluded: “If they had told us at the beginning of the season to be first with only five games left, we would all sign it. It’s amazing, we can see that it’s close. But as Rodri said, we have to focus on Burnley.”

Considering City still have to win their game in hand, it would make sense to still back table-toppers Arsenal to win the title.
However, it goes without saying that the momentum currently lies in the Sky Blues’ direction.
