Gabriel Agbonlahor has issued a request on social media to PGMOL head Howard Webb to ban Arsenal centre-back Gabriel Magalhaes for his rough challenges in the Premier League.

Gabriel’s headbutt on Erling Haaland during the Gunners’ latest 2-1 defeat to Manchester City was debated among many whether he should have been sent off.

Haaland claimed Gabriel would’ve been red carded had he gone to ground in the aftermath of their showdown as well.

The Arsenal star is an old-school defender in many ways who seems to thrive off being aggressive and making forwards aware he will give them a difficult day at the office.

Gabriel Agbonlahor claims ‘dangerous’ Gabriel should be banned

During Gabriel Agbonlahor’s playing days, there were plenty of defenders similar to Gabriel in the Premier League such as John Terry, Martin Skrtel and Robert Huth to name a few.

Gabriel is key to Arsenal’s system and ultimately, one of the fundamental reasons behind his rise over the years is that he is a nightmare to face for strikers.

However, the 28-year-old must ensure that he is not shown needless red cards for his approach to defending.

On X, Gabriel Agbonlahor tweeted clips of Gabriel’s challenges on Haaland and Nick Woltemade while advising Howard Webb to issue a ban on his namesake.

“It is getting silly what this guy gets away with! Howard, ban him, he’s dangerous!”

Danny Welbeck revealed what it is like to face Arsenal star Gabriel

Ultimately, such bans on players can only be issued in the event that their fouls are considered a case of violent conduct.

Mikel Arteta’s desperate to win silverware and as a result, he would love to have combative players like Gabriel at his disposal.

Danny Welbeck told TNT Sports how much of a tricky customer the former Lille colossus is to come up against.

“He’s really aggressive, he’s strong, he’s fast, he’s up for the fight, he’s up for the duel.”

“You know, the last game we played against them, he really got under my skin.”

Welbeck concluded: “He is a really, really good, top defender.”
