Ever since his move from Manchester City in the summer of 2022, Arsenal forward Gabriel Jesus has played with all manner of talent – from Bukayo Saka to Martin Odegaard. And the 29-year-old has recently named the Gunners star who ‘can do everything’.

Having arrived from the serial winners of the Premier League, many hoped the Brazilian would bring a sense of trophy-winning brilliance with him to north London.

He’s, however, yet to win silverware since his transfer three years ago.

In fact, whether the Brazil international – who is linked with a move to Atletico Madrid this summer – will still be playing football at the Emirates Stadium remains to be seen. Between now and the season’s end, he’ll be looking to help Arsenal’s three-pronged pursuit of silverware.

‘Really amazing’ – Gabriel Jesus names Arsenal’s do-it-all star

Mikel Arteta’s men – at the time of writing (3 April) – have a nine-point gap on nearest challengers Manchester City in the Premier League as they look to become the champions of England for the first time since 2004.

Defensively, they’ve been ultra resolute. The same, perhaps, cannot be said about the way they operate in the final third.

In the middle, there’s always been the brilliance of Declan Rice and Jesus has showered the ex-West Ham United captain with the highest of praise during a chat on Rio Ferdinand’s YouTube channel. He said:

“He’s the type of player who can do everything. When he arrived at the club I asked him to me a favour and that was to shoot every time you get the opportunity. Those moments can decide the game and his shooting quality is amazing.

“But he’s the type of play who can do everything. He can defend, he can create, he can shoot… he’s an amazing player.

“He’s different from Rodri because Declan is playing as a No. 8 now. I can compare him a little bit with Fernandinho. Fernandinho defended better than him I think but Declan gets forward, we call him The Horse because when he gets going you can’t stop him.

“He’s amazing, man, really amazing. Look at his character as well, he was born to be a leader. I really appreciate him as a person and as a player,” the ex-City forward concluded.

Declan Rice is arguably up there with the very best midfielders in world football – and there’s an argument to suggest that he is the Premier League Player of the Year, although Jermaine Pennant doesn’t think so.

In 2025/26 alone, the 27-year-old has scored five goals and delivered an extra 11 assists from the middle of the park.

‘100%’ – Jesus adamant that Arsenal will become Premier League champions

Is this Arsenal’s year? Well, Jesus seems to think that it is. Asked by Ferdinand about whether the Gunners will win the Premier League or not, Jesus said: “[I’m] very confident, very confident.

“We are in a good place and we have an amazing squad. Not just the players who play most of the games but the whole squad. I believe 100% that this season, we are doing something.”

Other than Rice, Saka also received plenty of love from the Brazilian. “He’s very good, very good,’ Jesus said of the wide man. “People don’t realise how good he is.

“He’s the type of player who needs the ball, you’re not going to see him dribbling past five players and then score. He has that quality but that’s not his main style. But he can get past you and put the ball in the top corner. He can win you a game or a trophy because he’s that good.”

Then comparing him to the likes of Vinicius Jr and Raphinha, he added: “He’s at the same table, the same table. They are all the same.

“Obviously we’re talking about different styles but they all have that quality and can do things in one moment. You still need to win trophies but he’s there, he’s there.”
