Gabriel Magalhaes being eyed by Juventus

Arsenal reportedly have one of their key players being eyed for a potential future transfer swoop by one of Europe’s most famous clubs.

According to a recent report from Gazzetta dello Sport (via Sport Witness), Gunners ace Gabriel Magalhaes is apparently on Juventus’ radar and is seen as a potential transfer target for the Italian giants.

Arsenal signed the centre-back from Lille two years ago in a deal worth a reported £27m. Since then, the Brazilian has gone on to make 83 appearances for the north London club across all competitions, chipping in with nine goals along the way.

Having started and played the full 90 minutes in all but one of Arsenal’s games this season across the Premier League and Europa League, this shows just how important a player he is for Mikel Arteta.

As one of only two outfielders to play every minute of league action for the Gunners, Gabriel has made more clearances (47) and blocked more shots (nine) than any other player at the club.

His overall performances have earned him a season rating of 6.88/10 from WhoScored, which is higher than fellow defenders William Saliba (6.84/10) and Ben White (6.79/10), who have also played in all 10 of Arsenal’s league games this season.

Praised by Arteta for his “terrific” performances in the past, Gabriel is undeniably a key figure for the Gunners, who will surely have no interest in selling him to Juventus or any other club for that matter.

Even though the Old Lady have been involved in this season’s Champions League, the fact that they are currently eighth in Serie A may not necessarily make them an alluring next destination for the £50k-per-week defender.

Bearing in mind how Arsenal are currently top of the Premier League and now into the knockout stages of the Europa League, it doesn’t seem likely that the Brazilian will be thinking of leaving the club any time soon, especially considering the regular playing time he is enjoying and the fact that his contract isn’t set to expire until 2025.
