Arsenal have been linked with a move for Lyon defender Malo Gusto.
That’s according to a recent report from 90min, who also claim that numerous other clubs across Europe have their eyes on the 19-year-old.
Along with the Gunners, other Premier League sides such as Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur and the two Manchester clubs also have an interest in the player. Outside of England, the likes of Atletico Madrid, Barcelona, Borussia Dortmund and Juventus are in the mix to sign Gusto.
Taking this into account, it seems as though Edu could become entangled in a major bidding war for the right-back among some of the top clubs in Europe.
A product of Lyon’s youth ranks, the teenager has already made 48 senior appearances for the club across all competitions, chipping in with six assists along the way.
Having started nine of Lyon’s ten Ligue 1 games this season, this shows just how important a figure the youngster is for his side.
Across his nine appearances, Gusto has made more passes into the 18-yard box (20) than any other Lyon player, while boasting the second-highest number of key passes (16). He has also made more blocks (22) than any other player at the club and has the joint-highest number of interceptions (22) in the squad.
This shows just how strong a defender the 19-year-old is, along with how useful an attacking outlet he can be for his team.
Previously praised by journalist Robin Bairner for a “superb” cross he delivered against Marseille last May, Gusto has certainly begun to make a name for himself in Europe, which is presumably why so many clubs are after him.
While he may have some significant competition to land the player, Edu should do all that he can to bring the young Frenchman to the Emirates Stadium.
