Arsenal have been linked with a move for Club Brugge striker Ferran Jutgla.
According to a recent report from Media Foot, the Gunners and Atletico Madrid both have their eyes on the player and could end up targeting him for next summer’s transfer window.
After starting his career in Spain and spending time in the youth setups at Espanyol and Barcelona, the 23-year-old joined his current club in June. Since then, the Spaniard has had a fine start to his spell in Belgium, having scored eight goals in 14 appearances in addition to providing five assists.
Across 111 club appearances throughout his career at senior and youth levels, Jutgla now has 41 goals and 14 assists to his name.
Hailed as a “spectacular” player by Barcelona manager and Camp Nou legend Xavi, this highlights how much of a deadly attacking threat the striker can pose – so much so that Jutgla could have the ability to dethrone current Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus in Mikel Arteta’s starting XI if he comes to Arsenal.
To compare the duo’s current domestic campaigns, the Spaniard has delivered more goal contributions than Jesus (nine v eight), despite playing fewer minutes than the Gunners marksman. In fact, the Brugge starlet has a higher rate of shots at goal per 90 minutes than the Brazilian (4.63 v 3.66), and also a higher percentage of shots on target (51.5% v 46.4%).
Jutgla’s overall performances in the Belgian league have earned him a season rating of 7.32/10 from WhoScored, making him the second-highest rated player at Brugge. This makes it easy to see why the Gunners and Atletico both have their eyes on the player, despite it still being early into his tenure at the Jan Breydel Stadium.
Taking all this into account, if the young striker continues to impress at his current club, Arsenal should definitely look to launch a summer move for him. Indeed, he has already made fellow suitors Atletico suffer, scoring against them in Brugge’s 2-0 win in midweek as their tremendous Champions League campaign continues to thrive.
