Arsenal have been dealt a potential blow to their chances of securing a transfer deal for Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans.
According to a recent report from Calciomercato, the Belgian would like to make a move to either Liverpool, Juventus or Real Madrid in the summer once his contract at the King Power Stadium expires.
Arsenal have been linked with a move for the Foxes midfielder, who was apparently available during the previous summer transfer window for a fee of £25m.
Leicester signed the 25-year-old back in the 2019 summer transfer window from AS Monaco for a reported then-club-record fee of £40m.
Since then, the midfielder has gone on to score 25 goals and provide 25 assists in 166 appearances across all competitions for the Midlands club.
Even though Brendan Rodgers’ side have had a difficult start to the season, Tielemans has still managed to show how much of an impressive player he is.
For example, prior to Leicester’s match against Nottingham Forest, the midfielder has made more key passes (12) than any of his teammates as well as winning more tackles (10) than any other player at the club.
His overall performances in a Leicester shirt so far this season have earned the former Monaco star a rating of 6.87/10, making him the second-highest player at the club behind James Maddison (6.96/10) according to WhoScored.
Hailed as an “exceptional” player by Jaquob Crooke, the Leicester star would be a fine addition to Mikel Arteta’s ranks and would certainly be a great move for the club financially if they can get him as a free agent in the summer.
Moving forward, Edu should be doing all he can to convince the Belgium international to make a move to the Emirates in the summer rather than any of the other clubs mentioned in this latest report, as they will surely be open to signing the midfield talent as well.
