Arsenal brought in two new players over the summer transfer window who not only have experience of playing at the top level of English football but also of winning trophies.

Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko both won numerous domestic honours during their time with Manchester City before joining Mikel Arteta’s side.

Another potential player that the north London outfit could sign who would be in the same bracket as Jesus and Zinchenko in terms of having experience in the Premier League and winning major trophies is Youri Tielemans.

The Gunners were linked with a move for the Leicester City midfielder over the summer but were unable to secure a deal for him.

In 166 appearances for Leicester, the 25-year-old has found the net 25 times and delivered 25 assists. One of those goals helped the Foxes to win the FA Cup in 2021 by beating Chelsea 1-0 in the final at Wembley, and it was a memorable one at that.

Previously hailed as an “outrageous” player by football talent scout Jacek Kulig, Tielemans has the highest number of passes into the final third of the pitch (164) at Leicester, also winning more tackles (49) and making more successful pressures (146) than any of his team-mates.

This shows just how well-rounded he is as a midfielder and why he would be a solid addition to Mikel Arteta’s ranks.

Bearing in mind how the £120k-per-week midfielder’s current contract at Leicester expires at the end of the season, if Edu can sign him on a free transfer next summer, this would arguably be his best deal as technical director at the north London club, both from a financial point of view and from a footballing perspective.

With all that in mind, if the Belgium international doesn’t put pen to paper on a new deal at the King Power Stadium before the season ends, Arsenal and Edu should do all that they can to get him to the Emirates.
