Arsenal’s technical director, Edu, pulled off a big signing during the previous summer transfer window as the north London club plucked Gabriel Jesus away from Manchester City in a deal worth £45m.
Since his arrival, the Brazilian has scored three goals and provided three assists in six Premier League appearances.
While it’s still early days in the season and Jesus’ period at Arsenal, he’s certainly had a strong start and is looking like a very astute signing from Edu and the club.
Looking forward, another player that the Gunners should look to sign that we feel would be of a similar ilk to their new Brazilian striker is Real Madrid winger Marco Asensio.
Having been linked with a move for the Spaniard in the summer, Arsenal may have a chance to complete it in the near future as the attacker recently vented his frustrations at his lack of game time with the European champions.
Bearing in mind how Jesus only started 21 of the 28 Premier League games he appeared in for City last season, a move for Asensio could mirror their swoop for the centre-forward as another player that isn’t a regular starter at his current club.
In 237 senior appearances for the Spanish club, the 26-year-old has scored 49 goals and delivered 24 assists along the way, highlighting his attacking prowess and what he’d be able to offer Arteta’s side.
Specifically, the Spanish international came third in terms of the number of shots at goal (64) and shots on target (31) he managed to have in La Liga last season.
Hailed as a “magical” player by former teammate Casemiro, the £164k-per-week attacker could well be tempted with a move to Arsenal in the summer as an opportunity to potentially play regularly in the Premier League and the Champions League if the Gunners get over that line this season.
With all of that in mind, if an opportunity arises to sign the unhappy Madrid figure, Arsenal should do all they can to make it happen.
