Arsenal journalist Charles Watts has dropped an injury update regarding Gunners midfielder Thomas Partey.
In a recent article for Goal, Watts had this to say on the matter.
He said: “Sources close to the player have revealed that his recovery is progressing well and he is hoping to return to full training at some point this week.”
The midfielder has been out of action since last month with a thigh injury which has led to him missing Arsenal’s three previous league games.
Having played the full 90 minutes in all three of the north London club’s opening league games this season, this shows just how important he is for Mikel Arteta and the team.
With those three games under his belt, Partey currently has the third-highest combined total of tackles and interceptions (15) to his name at the club, which shows how useful he is from a defensive point of view.
In fact, in the three games he played in, Arsenal conceded two goals in total, whereas in the three games he’s missed, they’ve conceded five.
As well as impressive defensive attributes, Partey’s overall performances in the league have earned him an overall season rating of 7.29/10 from WhoScored, making him the fourth-highest rated player in Arteta’s squad.
With Arsenal set to take on Everton in their next league outing on Sunday, the Gunners will undoubtedly be hoping that the 29-year-old will be fit enough to feature in the match bearing in mind how Frank Lampard’s side only have four clubs above them in terms of having a higher percentage for shots on target this season (36.4%).
Taking all of this into account, if the Ghanaian can get back to full fitness and back out on the pitch as soon as possible, this will surely be a massive boost for the club and the manager.
