Football fans around the world were quick to react to the news that Arsenal could be set to register their interest in signing another young talent from the Brazilian leagues, having already signed Gabriel Martinelli in July 2019.
Sao Paulo striker Brenner is attracting attention in Europe after netting 15 goals in just 25 games this season. A deal will not come easily, though, as Arsenal face competition from several European giants, including the likes of Juventus, Lazio and AC Milan. [Calciomercato]
With other interest emerging from Europe, competition will be intense for any club trying to secure the youngster’s signature – especially amid claims that Sao Paulo would accept a fee below that of his reported £45m release clause, given the current economic climate.
According to Calciomercato, Brenner has caught the eye of Gunners boss Mikel Arteta for his standout performances. Sao Paulo have impressively managed an unbeaten run of games since September, aided in part by the 20-year-old’s notable goal contributions.
Brenner also possesses an Italian passport. In a similar vein to how Martinelli joined the Gunners, this fact means that the youngster can bypass existing legislation which normally leaves Brazilian imports requiring a work permit to play in the UK.
This would make any possible deal much easier to achieve, increasing the likelihood of a European move for the young talent.
Football fans had their say on Twitter as many discussed Brenner (who one fan dubbed the ‘South American Lacazette’), his ability and how he could benefit the Gunners…
