Arsenal Fans React as Gunners Lose Thomas Partey to Injury

Many Arsenal fans were left bitterly disappointed as news of the loss of a key summer signing to injury was confirmed by the club.

The Gunners have been dealt a significant blow to their plans after it was confirmed that Thomas Partey would need to undergo a scan on a suspected thigh injury picked up during Arsenal’s 3-0 thrashing at the hands of Dean Smith’s Aston Villa.

Two goals from former Exeter and Brentford striker Ollie Watkins following an unfortunate Bukayo Saka own goal consigned the Gunners to their fourth defeat in eight league games.

The 27-year-old Ghana international has been singled out for praise for his strong performances and seemed to be forming a good partnership with Egyptian midfielder Mohamed Elneny.

He was taken off at half-time on Sunday night and replaced with Dani Ceballos following his injury, with Arteta hinting that his return date is unclear.

His involvement with Ghana over the next two weeks is also in doubt as he will need to undergo a scan and further treatment, as Arteta said after the defeat to Aston Villa:

‘We don’t know [the extent] of it. We have to scan him tomorrow or the day after and see what he felt straight away. Let’s wait and see what the magnitude of the injury is.

‘I don’t know [if he will go away with Ghana now].

‘As I said, the doctor will have to have a look at him and probably scan him. Then we will decide what to do with him.’

These Arsenal fans were raging over the update on Partey, with one Gooner duly begging the club to sign summer transfer target Houssem Aouar in January:
