Shkodran Mustafi enjoyed a good run of form at the back end of last season but he suffered an injury which is set to leave him on the sidelines until around the end of October.

With the signing of Gabriel Magalhaes, it is unlikely that the German defender will manage to earn his way back into the starting 11 after his injury and as such, Arsenal could let him leave during the current transfer window.

Lazio are front runners for the World Cup winner and are trying to capture Mustafi for a fee of around £13 million.

It is thought that Arsenal would like a slightly larger fee than this but an agreement is not thought to be far away, meaning that it is likely that Mustafi will be departing before the window closes.

This could be an important transfer for Arsenal if they want to make a move to sign either Thomas Partey or Houssem Aouar as it is evidently clear that the Gunners need to raise funds to bring in one of those two players.

Mustafi’s departure could spark different reactions amongst Arsenal fans as he has shown what he is capable of in several performances under Arteta, but with Gabriel now being part of the team, it is unlikely that Arsenal will miss Mustafi’s presence too much.
