Atletico Madrid have joined the race to sign Uruguay international Lucas Torreira from Arsenal, thus providing competition to Italian sides Fiorentina and Torino, who also want to sign the midfielder.
Arsenal fans could be more intrigued by Atletico coming to the party due to the interest that Arsenal have in Thomas Partey.
Simeone has identified Torreira as a target for his squad and is looking to beat Fiorentina and Torino to his signature. Arsenal are rumoured to be wanting around £23 million for his services but it is thought that the two clubs could look into a potential swap deal.
Atletico are demanding nothing less than the release clause for Partey but their interest in Torreira could mean that Arsenal will not have to pay the full asking price.
