Arsenal look set to ‘clear out’ a few players that are no longer needed at the club, one of whom seems to be Lucas Torreira, who has been linked with a move away for several weeks.

It has now been reported that the Gunners have accepted a bid for the South American midfielder from Torino and the fee is thought to be around £20 million.

There have been some reports that the deal is an initial loan deal, with a £12 million loan fee, with the rest set to be paid at a later date.

Fiorentina were the front runners for Torreira’s signature but fellow Italian side Torino have now emerged as his most likely destination.

Torreira arrived in London for the 2017/18 season from Sampdoria and enjoyed a very successful season, being awarded several Man of the Match awards for his efforts.

However, things have appeared to go very south for the Uruguay international as he now is unable to get in the matchday squad which has seemingly resulted in the player wanting to return to Italy.

The money raised in this deal could be used to help strike a deal for either Houssem Aaour or Thomas Partey and if that is the case, then we don’t think too many Gunners’ fans will be too upset to see him leave.
